Beautiful Heritage Home
Mrs. T’s BnB is a landmark in Parry Sound. This Queen Anne style home sits on a half-acre lot backed by a secluded wooded area, with quiet neighbors on either side. The home was built in 1880. In 1906, when the trains came to Parry Sound, it was set on logs and pulled by horses down the hill to its present location. William Beatty, son of the founder of Parry Sound, William Beatty, was its first owner. A picture of our home hangs in the Parry Sound Museum. There have only been four families live in the house since 1880: William Beatty and family, Dr. and Mrs. Wheatley and family (Kathrine Wheatley, singer and songwriter), Dr. and Mrs. Sweeney and family, and the Thomson family -present owners. Each of the three bedrooms for rent is named after one of the three former owners. The Thomson Rooms are the attic beds and playroom area.
The woodwork of the staircase, trim, second floor hall and bedroom floors, windows and doors is original to the house. The front door opens into a spacious foyer. There is a wood-burning fireplace in the more formal parlour or living room with antique rosewood couch and chairs, four stained glass windows. There is another wood-burning fireplace in the large dining room. Both fireplaces can be lit for guests in the evening and both are lit at breakfast time which is lovely and cozy in cooler weather. The walnut dining room table can seat twelve or be set for one couple. The chandelier adds sparkle to the silver tea set. First floor bathroom with shower facilities is just off the dining room and updated kitchen. Laundry facilities are in the basement and guests are welcome to use them upon request. Sandra and Andrew have private accommodations just off the laundry room in the basement so that guests have complete privacy upstairs.
Grounds include perennial beds, vegetable (tomatoes, beans, peas, lettuce, potatoes and pumpkins) beds, fire pit, water feature, large Victorian bird bath, screened gazebo with comfortable seating, café table with two chairs, octagonal picnic table, two lawn swings (one for snoozing!), and Muskoka chairs for gatherings. Birds, squirrels and chipmunks enjoy the seeds left in the two bird feeders. Sunsets over the Sound are spectacular and can be viewed from the wicker chairs and outdoor dining area on the front wrap-around porch. The grounds are lit with solar lights and are very pretty at night.

Accommodations
Enjoy beautifully appointed rooms.
Mrs. T’s BnB has three spacious, squeaky-clean bedrooms to rent with occupancy of two guests per room. The rooms are on the second floor. Each room has large windows. There are serviceable closets and dressers. Mattresses and all the bedding are top quality. Sheets are hung out to dry in fresh outdoor air, then carefully ironed for a crisp feel. Each room has A.C., flat screen Roku enabled t.v. and wi-fi. The whole house meets fire safety requirements with smoke and carbon monoxide detector.
There are two shared washrooms (both with showers, one with tub). One bathroom is on the first floor and one on the second floor.
Rooms
The Beatty Suite (queen bed) is our largest room and very lovely, decorated in soft teals. It has two couches, one in the sitting area and a pull-out sofa bed in the sun room. There is a mini fridge, tea kettle and teas, Keurig and microwave. In the adjoining sunroom, there is a small antique table with two chairs. The sunroom is a wonderful place for a morning cup of coffee or an evening glass of wine while you take in the glorious Georgian Bay sunsets!
The Sweeney Room (queen bed) is located near the second floor washroom, which is shared with the Wheatley Room.. It is a good-sized room and has two large windows. The Sweeney Room is lovely in blue and white and decorated in a Georgian Bay theme. It has an antique dresser and small glass coffee table with two side chairs. The Sweeney Room opens onto a beautiful large shared deck overlooking the back gardens.
The Wheatley Room (double bed), our smallest room, is pretty in soft cream and pink. It has an antique dresser and cozy recliner to catch up on your reading in comfort. It also has direct access to the shared deck.

Breakfast is included in the price of the room. Every morning, Mrs. T. offers fresh juices, fruit, yogurts, cereal, homemade bread, pastries and muffins, spreads. She also serves up a variety of pancakes, waffles, egg dishes, bacon and/or sausages. There is always a large selection of coffees and teas on hand. The kitchen has been updated and has a microwave, fridge and new stove.
Snacks (fruits, nuts, candy) are complimentary throughout the day and can be found in the attic, stored in snack tins on the tea/coffee caddy. Bottled water, milk, cream, and fruit are kept in the mini fridge next to the Keurig.
